Hyderabad works as two teaching markets that happen to share a name. The west, around Gachibowli, Kondapur, Madhapur and Kukatpally, sends mostly school requirements from families who moved in for work, while the older side around Himayatnagar, Secunderabad and Dilsukhnagar sends more state-board school work and Intermediate students taking MPC or BiPC. Crossing between the two in the evening is an hour nobody pays you for, so it is worth deciding which market you are in and keeping online for students on the wrong side of it.
Language decides more here than tutors coming from other cities expect. The western belt is largely English-medium, but Telugu-medium state-board homes across the older city and Urdu-medium schooling around the old city are both ordinary, and a family will normally say which one their child is in before they say anything about the subject. Explaining a Physics chapter in the language the child was actually taught it in is the difference between a lesson and a translation exercise, and it is the one thing you cannot pick up between sittings.
The Intermediate years set the calendar. Colleges keep long hours and run entrance coaching inside the timetable, so a first-year student who is behind in one subject has very little of the day left over — an early morning, a late evening or a Sunday — and the arrangement often runs only until the public exams are done. School-level work behaves the other way round: it runs through the session and is what most tutors here build the week around. Reading the class and the preferred timing on a requirement together usually tells you which of the two you are being asked for.
