Chemistry is three subjects sharing one name. Physical chemistry is largely numerical and behaves like maths. Organic is pattern and mechanism, closer to learning how a language works than to remembering facts. Inorganic is mostly structured memory. Very few students are weak at all three, but one mark out of a hundred hides which of them is doing the damage.

So the first useful thing a tutor does is take the last few papers apart by branch and see where the marks actually went. The work after that is different in each case: organic needs a student to stop memorising individual reactions and start seeing why a reaction goes the way it does, inorganic needs a revision schedule more than it needs explanation, and physical needs solved problems with someone checking each step. It is worth asking a tutor which of the three they teach most, because few teach all three equally well.
