Economics is another Class 11 arrival, and it is usually misjudged in the first month. It looks like a subject you can handle by reading, and half of it is not. Microeconomics is diagrams and numericals — curves that have to be drawn correctly, shifted correctly and then read correctly — while the other half is written work where the marks sit in structure rather than opinion.
That split accounts for most of the marks students lose. The ones who write well underestimate the diagram half; the ones comfortable with numbers write vague answers that never define the term or state the assumption. Examiners want the definition, then the diagram or example, then the explanation, in that order, and a tutor's job is largely to teach that shape and then make the theory connect to something recognisable. It is one of the few school subjects a student can check against the day's news, which is worth using while the syllabus still feels abstract.
