Mathematics is the subject families look for a tutor for most often, and the reason changes with the year. In primary and middle school it is usually confidence — a child who decided they were "bad at maths" long before the syllabus actually got hard. From Class 9 onwards the problem changes shape: algebra, geometry and trigonometry start to compound, and a gap left in one chapter quietly breaks the next three.
That is the specific thing one-to-one tuition is good at. A tutor can work backwards to find where the chain broke, instead of drilling the current chapter harder — which is difficult to do in a classroom of forty and straightforward across a table.
